Am I Less Wise Today Than I Was On Monday?

All 4 of my wisdom teeth were surgically removed yesterday morning.  My appointment was at 7:15 and I was on the operating table by 8am.  I remember talking to the anestesiologist and the surgical nurse about time change.  The last thing I remember was the anestesiologist talking about how my dentist never washes his car.  And then I was out.  I had a mask over my mouth to sedate me.  It was the worst smell and taste in the world.  It took forever for it to leave.  While they worked on my teeth there was tube placed down my throat.  On top of the sedation, they also freeze your mouth.

I woke up shortly after 9am.  The right side of my mouth hurt so bad and my throat was so sore.  It felt the same way it did after I had the tubes in my throat removed after my bout with pneumonia.  A nurse gave me a dose of pantodone (or something like that) to help take the pain away.  I also had some water.

I was bleeding pretty bad on my right side.  I was bleeding through the gauze in mere minutes.  So they stuck black tea bags on each side of my mouth.  Black tea contains tannic acid which helps make your blood clot.  I actually googled Tannic Acid and it is a pretty diverse natural ingredient with lots of useful uses!

I was able to leave the recover room around 10am.  It was pretty embarrassing riding the elevator and walking around with tea bags in your mouth.  Thankfully it wasn't too far to the car.  By the time we got home, I had drooled through a dozen kleenex's and a camping towel that was left in our car.  There was blood everywhere.  We changed the tea bags again and again and finally by 12:15 the bleeding had subsided and I could just have gauze in there.  By 2pm almost all the bleeding at stopped.

My diet yesterday contained of raspberry jello, vanilla pudding, maple ice cream + raspberry sorbet/sherbet (not sure what the difference is or what Greg bought but it is delicious).  I also drank tonnes of water.  Greg made me some scrambled eggs for supper but I could not eat them very well and decided it wasn't worth the effort.  Greg also got me some popsicles that I can hopefully try today!

My medication consists of Ibuprofen and Tylenol 3's.  One Ibuporfen is equivalent to I think 3 regular ones.  Those are used primarily to keep the swelling down.  T3's are for the pain.  At times the pain isn't as bad as I thought it would be and other times it's been downright horrific.  Greg said that Day 2 (today) is the worst day for both pain and swelling.  So I just took some ibuprofen and will follow up with some T3's after I have a bath.

Greg took Finley and Penelope back to my Aunt's house today so that I could get some rest.  Originally, Greg was going to stay home today but they are in the middle of a huge project and someone made a bunch of mistakes that he has to fix.  He was there working on his Friday off and again this past Sunday.  It was a struggle for him to even get yesterday off because there was so much to do - and they wanted him to go to Fort Mac for 3 days.  Seriously!!  Despite the fact that this was booked 6 weeks ago.  So he was up early and I got the bags and girls ready and sent them on their way.  Greg is leaving work to go get Finley from my Aunt's to drop her off at preschool and then after picking her up at 3:50, will go get Penelope bring them home, make supper and head back to work.  Hopefully he doesn't burn himself out!!

This morning I was up at 3:19am so I decided to clean our room, clean out my closet and go through my shoes, dress pants and jewelery that I no longer use.  So I have a big pile of stuff to be sold, donated + given away.  I also sorted dirty laundry and hung up clean laundry.  I was quite pleased with myself.  I now have a load of laundry in!

Breakfast this morning is consisting of the last of the raspberry jello and vanilla pudding. It doesn't get much better than this (sarcasm people).  I could desperately use a starbucks this morning but I don't think it would be wise for me to be riding my bike in my condition - especially on the way home with one hand on my handle bars and the other carrying my starbucks.  Perhaps tomorrow I will treat myself with some!

I beyond miss my girls.  It sucks not being able to look after them.  It had been the longest that I had been away from Penelope ever.  She was so happy to see me when she got home last night and was not happy about having to leave me today.  Hopefully tomorrow I will be able to look after them and we can have some mommy daughter time!

Anyways I am getting tired so I am gonna have a hot bath, take some T3's and lay on my couch and watch something on TV.  I can't believe how terrible daytime TV is!!  There is absolutely nothing on.  Thinking I will have to dig through my old dvd's to find something to watch.  Even VOD has nothing worth watching!!!

Talk soon!
