Salt Dough Ornaments

This morning the Florizone Family gathered in our kitchen to create some Christmas Ornaments.  The recipe I found called for 4 cups of flour, 1 cup salt and 1.5 cups of water.  Greg ended up having to use more water and some oil.

Finley getting her apron on to help make the dough

Cutting the dough!  She picked stars, santa, candy canes, and a snowman

Penelope watching from afar.  She insists on wearing the hat inside but won't wear one outside.  I don't get her.

The ornaments on the tray ready to be cooked.  They took more than an hour to harden at 250 degrees

Penelope playing with the presents while the ornaments were being made

Neither kid tries to open the presents but they enjoy moving them all over the house!! It drives me crazy - I can't wait until we have our Christmas on the 18th!!!

The ornaments are done!  Time to paint them.  We mixed cornstarch and food colouring

I thought Penelope might want to finger paint them or something.  But she screamed and tried to eat one.  She was not a happy kid this morning.  She went down for a nap before lunch and is still sleeping.

Yup.  Really grouchy.

Finley hard at work making art

Finley gave up so Greg finished painting them and Finley did the glitter

Part 1 of the ornaments

Part 2 of the ornaments.

We just have to find some ribbon to fit in them so we can hang them up.  The ribbon i have is too wide!!

Happy Holidays!
