Montana

Some observations in the first 36 hours of our vacation:

• The speed limit is 120km on divided highways.  110 on non-divided highways.  Montana is great!!
• It is not the law to wear a helmet while driving and/or riding on a motorcycle.  We witnessed this on several occasions - even on the interstate.
• There is surprisingly good shopping in the state of Montana.  I have purchased TONNES of clothes for the kids at Target, I got a pair of North Face convertible pants for $40, TOMS for $45 (I paid $58 at the Boathouse in Chinook for my 1st pair), a new dress for Kristen's wedding for Penelope for $10 (regularly priced at $58), a pair of shoes for me at Target for $4.98 + $13.98 at Macy's, a new Derek Jeter shirt (for me), a few tops for me from Target, a pair of Marc Jacobs sunglasses for me for $36 (can you believe it???), and a 16gb ipod since my 8gb wasn't big enuf anymore and so much more.  I really thought it would be lame shopping but I was wrong
• There is no tax in the state of Montana
• It is extremely hot + humid in Montana - a lot like Saskatchewan summers.  However this heat starts at the end of June and goes until September.  Apparently August is the worst. It hit 35 today.  How does it get worse than that?  I am not a huge fan of the heat - it gives me severe headaches.  
• This is our 2nd night in a hotel with wonderful bathtubs and wireless internet.  We leave Billings in the morning (after breakfast at IHOP) for Custard State Park, Black Hills + Mt. Rushmore.  On Thursday we start the trek back to Yellowstone but are only going half way and will be spending the night in Buffalo, Wy - in a hotel with a bathtub and hopefully wireless internet so perhaps I will check in then
• I am missing my blackberry - i feel so disconnected from the rest of the world!!  Hopefully one day cell phone companies will not charge you an excessive amount of money to use your phone in another country.  
• Oh and did I mention that it is 11:14pm and my kids are JUST going to bed???  Trust me, it's been a long day.  And I am on my way next.
