This week started off rainy. Sunday was beautiful out but I was woken up by the rain a few hours after I went to bed. It then proceeded to rain Monday, Tuesday + Wednesday. We were busy the first two days but on Wednesday we were not.
Thankfully Penelope can be occupied by very little. She was easy to please these rainy days! Granted this was Monday afternoon after a morning of groceries and cleaning.
We had a very busy Tuesday morning with our moms + tots group doing something special for Daddy so she was pretty tuckered out on Tuesday afternoon. She cuddled up with her favorite toys and enjoyed some quiet time watching Sesame Street + Mickey Mouse Clubhouse.
Also on Tuesday, Finley played with her set of toy food. She has tonnes already on the main floor and in the basement but Walmart had 120 pieces of food for $2.00. That's right $2.00 you can't not buy it. So we keep it upstairs and she fed me grapes and chocolates all afternoon.
On Wednesday we were all going a little crazy. Normally we have Giggle Toes on Wednesday morning but we got a phone call Tues night that it was cancelled. We ran to Walmart and returned stuff to Zellers (which btw doesn't open til 9am. Reason #5666675 that I am happy it will soon be a Target). I loaded up on some toys + craft supplies for us to keep busy. Finley baked with her new mixer. It was also on sale for $5 at Walmart - half price!
She cleaned her vanity while I cleaned out Penelope's high chair. It's amazing how fast that thing gets gross. I cannot wait until she no longer needs it. It takes up way too much space and cleaning it each day grosses me out.
Finley then went shopping with Jessie + Minnie. Her 2 new favorite toys. We also worked on her alphabet + numbers with flashcards. She can recite her ABC's if you repeat the letter first. She still won't do it otherwise. We are now on the waiting list for a speech pathologist but it is at least a 6 month wait. She is definitely just being lazy judging from what she has been doing lately but it's very frustrating to say the least. She is getting much better at repeating what you say so I have hopes that it will soon carry over to everyday conversations.
She danced around with her hoola hoop. She did surprisingly well. She quite enjoyed this.
Then she sang Born This Way by Lady Gaga. She loves this song and Judas. We bought the CD on Itunes and I am so happy we did. She now will listen to this in the car so we get a MUCH NEEDED break from Taylor Swift. She was dancing around and everything - I wish I would have recorded it but I was enjoying her show too much!
Penelope was still a happy girl on Wednesday. The scab on her nose is pretty much gone and she doesn't look so pathetic now which makes me happy.
The girls also played in their house surprisingly well. Finley usually gets mad at Penelope and there tends to be lots of tears and screaming - from only one child. Any guesses?
We ended the day by going out for supper to the Fire Kirin. We rarely go out to eat during the week unless we have company or a birthday or something. But I had spent the entire day cleaning and wanted to savour my clean kitchen for a few more hours. Plus Greg just got a pretty good raise which makes staying home once my mat leaves ends much less worrysome. Finley was trying to eat with chopsticks. Much better than I am now.
Finley enjoying some curried rice and chicken.
I had one of the best meals of my life at Fire Kirin. The jumbo prawns were perfectly seasoned and just ridiculously good that I can't even describe it. Great food but we were the only people in there the entire time. I think it's just in a bad location but if you are ever in the south you should definitely check it out. Deep Fried Banana's and Coconut Ice Cream were to die for. And the best part is that the Canucks lost again!!!!!!
Today it is much nicer outside and we have already enjoyed it immensely. The kids are just finishing up lunch and we are headed back outside again. Tomorrow I will blog about our day full of sunshine plus my fabulous evening that will occur tonight.
Hope my fellow Calgarian Bloggers and readers survived the 3 days straight of rain. Hooray again for nice weather.
