Roughnecks Season Opener

On Saturday night, Greg, Finley, Penelope, Frunkl Jack + I headed down to the Saddledome to watch the Calgary Roughnecks 10th season opener against the Buffalo Bandits.  This also marked Penelope's first NLL game ever!

Greg, Frunkl Jack + Penelope watching the onfield celebrations before the game started

Finley watching the players coming out + the drill crew dancing.  She loves the drill crew.  They also had the Altadore Gym Club performing at half time and she was in heaven!

The players being introduced.  Our favorite is Kaleb Toth who is from Calgary and played for the Prince Albert Raiders so there is a PA connection which is always good!

During the off season, Tracey Kelusky was traded to the Buffalo Bandits in order to cut salary on the roughnecks.  He was their captain and had been here for 8 seasons.  It was sad to see him go  but was happy we got to see play tonight.  He was honored before the game with the White Hat Ceremony which is a big deal in Calgary.  I had never seen one before so it was pretty cool to see.  I brought my camera but I left the memory card in my imac so I had to use my blackberry again.

Finley having a rest on Daddy's lap. Penelope was hanging with Frunkl Jack.  She hung with him for most of the game and was quite well behaved.

The Roughnecks ended up winning 10 -9 which is always good.  Tracey Kelusky had a sick backhand to score the first goal for the Bandits.  His backwards backhanded throws are always sweet to watch although it was way sweeter when he was a 'neck.

If you have never attended a Roughnecks game, I highly recommend you do so.  It is fun, cheap, loud and there is lots of room for a very active toddler to run around and not disturb people.  I think we're going again on January 29th so join us if you like!
