Getting Another Ultrasound Done...

On April 10th and 2:15pm at Ultrasound Preview. I was initially going to go with UC Baby down on 17th where I had Finley's 3D ultrasound done but I decided to go with Rhonda at Ultrasound Preview because she was a mompreneur and I quite enjoyed speaking with her yesterday. I am much more happier that my money is going to someone much more deserving then a corporate national company.

Hopefully Baby-On-The-Way co-operates this time, although the place keeps doing re-checks for free until they determine the gender of the baby. Still holding out hope that the baby is a girl but really will be happy either way!!

Baby On The Way Is A.....

A GIRL we think....yes we think. The baby kinda cooperated in the beginning of the ultrasound and the tech said there was no penis sticking out so she "thinks" it's a girl. At the end of the ultrasound, the baby's legs were crossed so we couldn't tell for sure. She even had me use the washroom, walk around and prodded and prodded to get the baby to move her legs but she/he just would not co-operate.

I can move forward in the nursery or anything until I know for sure and I can't possibly wait until the baby is born because I would go completely insane! So we have booked at gender determination ultrasound at UC Baby on April 14th at 3pm so hopefully we can find out for sure then. Also waiting to hear back from another private clinic as the hours work better for Greg.

I know I sound bitter and pitiful and that I should be grateful that I can get pregnant and that my baby is healthy. And I totally am. I have seen my friends struggle with getting pregnant and so many things that are far worse then not finding out the sex of my baby and I realize that. I am just having my moment of self pity and will be back to normal shortly.

Here a few photos of Baby-On-The-Way Girl....hahah just kiddin Greg it could still be a boy...

This was me yesterday at exactly 18 weeks pregnant....

Finley's Arc

On Friday afternoon, we went to the Family-A-Fair down at the Big 4 on the Stampede Grounds. I had high expectations for this as last year we got such amazing things. This year, however, was a total disappointment. All we purchased were some snug-as-a-bug bows that I love for Finley's hair. Thankfully, there was a Petting Zoo sponsored by Butterfield Acres that Finley seemed to enjoy - well except for the piglet of course...here are some photo's of Finley in the petting zoo....

She's Finally Wearing Them...

They are just not the ones I envisioned she'd want to wear. At least it's a start....

Daddy's Little Helper

Finley got a wagon for Christmas and Daddy finally put it together! Finley was so excited to get her wagon that she helped Daddy put it together. She took a keen interest in his hammer, perhaps the Easter Bunny will bring her a tool kit?

She was in charge of the instructions, but she let go and the blew away. This was her and daddy chasing after them!

Getting ready to go for her first wagon ride! She LOVED it!!

Weekend in Canmore

This past weekend Greg, FInley and I spent some time in Canmore. It was a pretty fun time! We did a nice hike that had some slippery parts but that we enjoyed and that we plan on doing the extended 10k hike this summer. We only did 2k on Saturday which was enough given the muddy and icy sections. We did some sightseeing in Canmore and then headed out to The Wood for supper. It was pretty good but not entirely sure I would eat there again. Believe it or not, this was only the 2nd time I have been to Canmore. I know it seems ridiculous considering our proximity to the town but it's true. The first time was a few years ago for a work function. Although I did have a good time, I think I still prefer Banff, Radium or Lake Louise but do recommend a visit if you've never been,

Here are some photos of our weekend...check out picassa or facebook to see them all!

Lovely Bones

I had been waiting for this book since I first saw the preview for the movie back in December. I finally got it on Monday and was SO excited for it! After hanging out in the library with Finley for an hour picking out her books, we headed home where I began my journey.

The book started out AMAZING. I was so into it. It was the first book for as long as I could remember that I was so into it that I didn't want to put it down. The weird part was that you knew what happened, you knew who did it but you still wanted more. I was captivated instantly and was intrigued by the author's view of heaven. How everybody had their own heaven and you met other people only if your heaven's had something in common. I always assumed heaven was like the philly cream cheese commercial - just living on clouds. I know it sounds rather naive but that's really what I thought. I wonder if people in heaven really sit and watch their family that remains on earth. Are my Grandma & Grandpa Taggart sitting in heaven watching Madi, Tanner, Easton, Finley and Ashton - the great grandchildren they never got to meet? Do they look down at their grandchildren and think how proud they are of us? This book really got me to thinking about heaven and what we do once we get there. I told Greg about how she thought everybody had their own heaven and he was surprised that I never thought like that.

I was saddened though by how the death of Suzie destroyed their family. The mother couldn't deal with the loss of Suzie and it made her rethink her entire life and everything she had done. She has an affair with the detective on the case and then abandons her family and moves to New Hampshire and then on to California. The father knows who did it but there is no evidence against the neighbor. He refuses to give up and does everything to find something to connect the crazy neighbor to the murder of his baby girl. The sad part of it is that they could've nailed the crazy neighbor if the detective wouldn't have been sleeping with his wife at the exact moment the police were searching his house. They let him go and he skipped town. The younger children turned out quite alright considering their circumstances. I have never known anybody that was murdered so have no idea if this is a clear description of how families of murdered children survive or I guess don't survive. I would like to think, God forbid, that something of this magnitude happened to my family or someone close to me that we wouldn't fall apart like the Mother did. Hopefully I (or you reading) never ever have to find out.

The second half of the book wasn't nearly as interesting as the first half and was a little weird in some aspects which is why I think alot of people didn't enjoy the book. As badly as I wanted to read it earlier, I couldn't wait for it to end. Although, thanks to mother nature, justice prevailed. And how it was done was kinda ironic if you had read the whole book.

Despite the last half of the book, I am looking forward to see the movie. I have heard only bad things about the movie but I am hoping for the opposite. Although, truth be told, I never like a movie after the book except for PS I Love you ( the book was so awful)so the odds aren't good!

I definitely recommend giving it a read if you are looking for something new!

Halfway through the book, it went from oh I can't put it down to when is this going to end.

Girl vs Boy

Yesterday afternoon, Greg and I made a list of things we need to buy for baby-on-the-way. I decided to do 2 lists: one for Baby Girl and one for Baby Boy.

After seeing the two lists and comparing them, I am not going to lie, I would like another girl. The Baby Boy list is like 3x as long. Toys, clothes, shoes, accessories, towels, blankets, sheets, grobags, etc all need to be bought if we have a boy. If we have a girl, we will need a few accessories and few new born outfits and that's pretty much it. We have so much stuff from Finley that it's ridiculous. I have 5 rubbermaid containers in the basement and a laundry basket in her room full of clothes that she has outgrown. None are gender neutral. I have a small, mostly empty, container in the office-soon-to-be-nursery room for baby on the way and most contain Rider and Flames gear.

To be honest though, even before the lists were made, I desperately wanted this baby to be a girl. Don't get me wrong, I will love him just the same if he is indeed a boy, but I want Finley to have that built in best friend like I do with my sister and Greg has with his brother.

On another note, we have designed the nursery and picked colors based on boy vs. girl. It's gonna be hard to top what we did for Finley's room but this should be close in comparison. I am just so excited to do the nursery but first we need to find out the sex and finish the basement reno's.......

And on another different note, we have settled already on the girls name. No you can't find out yet. I am keeping it a secret just as I did with Finley. We actually decided on this name when Finley was like 2 days old. I love it and it is perfect and not in any way traditional which I love. We have also decided on a boy's name for the first time EVER!!! Hopefully we will keep liking it over the next 24 weeks and 6 days....but who's counting?? haha

PS. April 1st is find out baby sex day!!! So excited

Sunny Days Chasing Our Blues Away...

Well maybe we weren't chasing our blues away but I liked the way the title sounded and it was the first thing that came to mind...haha

What we were trying to chase away was this darn cold that won't go away. It's really gotten the best of her lately and today and she has decided not to eat so we've been giving her lots of milk and water so she says hydrated. I haven't given her any antibiotics - EVER - so that is not an option. So this morning after she had some milk, we headed outside to the front yard so she could run around and be happy. We didn't stay out too long as I was worried about her cold but she had a fun 10 minutes. She is currently conked out with daddy on the couch so here's hoping she is sleeping away her cold!

Here are some photos of our morning outside...
