Finley!!

It's truly astonishing how much Finley has grown in the last few weeks - and I don't just mean in height or belly!

She is doing very well potty wise despite no actual pee in the potty.  I took the advice of my good friend Jenn and put her on the potty every time I changed her diaper and read her potty books.  She automatically does this as soon as I take the diaper off.  I am hoping one day soon we will have some pee in there!

She loves everything Christmas! I am so looking forward to her seeing Santa on Saturday in Banff!  She is going to go banana's!  Every time she see's the inflatable Christmas decorations she gets so happy.  And her eyes light  up when we turn on our Christmas trees and the lights on our staircase.  She just doesn't care about the presents under the tree.  Although she just unwrapped one of Penelope's and she just kinda sat there and did it.  No excitement, no nothing!

She is talking SO much!  Everyday there are more words coming out of her mouth!  My favourite is Thank You....she says it so sweetly!  She can say Iggy's name really well and here kitty kitty too.  She is using her words more and more often and less whining which is very good.  She also can count: 1, 2, 3, 6.  Why 6? Well Sesame Street had a #6 day and she's been saying it ever since.  They also had Letter I day and she likes to say that.  She loves Sesame Street and I swear she said Elmo's World the other morning but I haven't been able to get her to say it again.  She is always wanting to count things which is awesome!  She is really good at stacking blocks and her ring thingy and puzzles.  She loves puzzles!

She loves to sing.  She sings all the time.  Not real word singing but her kind of singing nonetheless.  I keep trying to get it on video but it never seems to work out!  We're trying to get her sing Jingle Bells - we've made some progress but not a whole lot! We've got 22 more days to get it done!

She loves to get read to and we now read several books before bed.  Her favourites are pop up books or books with flaps or books with sounds.  She likes to participate in that.  This is a huge improvement as before she wouldn't sit still for a page of a book.  We have been able to incorporate that into our bedtime routine and I LOVE it.

She started swimming lessons last week with Greg and she is doing really well.  She is jumping off the ledge, kicking in the water and blowing bubbles.  She starts gymnastics at Gymtastics in January.  I am so looking forward to it!

She is loving Penelope more and more each day.  She is always trying to feed her or pat her tummy when she is crying.  She even lends Penn her favourite pink blankie when she is upset.  She checks on her every morning when she gets up whether she hears her or not.  She's pretty funny sometimes.

She LOVES christmas oranges and peanut butter sandwiches.  She requests both all of the time.  She will get the peanut butter and bread out and open the drawer for me to get a knife.  She also brings me orange after orange for me to peel and her to eat.  She uses her chair to stand on to reach the orange bowl on the counter.   I am not kidding when I say we've been through 4 boxes of oranges in the last 2 weeks.

I think that is all for now - or at least all I can remember.  Will keep you posted of any future developments

  1. Hey Becky glad to hear Finley is growing so much and accomplishing so many milestones. One thing I may not have mentioned before about the potty training, is putting her on the potty at those key times when they should have to pee for sure, like in the morning when they wake up, and before naps and after naps.
One of these days I am going to have to meet Miss Finley and Miss Penelope, I feel as if I know them but I have never actually seen either girl!!
