I remember thinking potty training would be the death of me!! Chandler was so stubborn, he just had no use for potty training he was too busy playing or watching his shows. We did the whole pull ups and everything, but I think those hampered us more than anything. The one thing that did help him get used to the potty was having it out so he could always see it. Whenever I changed his diaper I sat him on the potty. After he ate and before naps I would have him sit on the potty for 5 to 10 minutes. I would let him eat a snack, like cheerios or fruit loops and we would ready potty training stories. We would only read those stories while he sat on the potty. In the summer i have heard that people just let kids run around naked, and if you want you can in the winter but it will be inside as opposed to outside. The other big thing that helped was buying him big boy underwear and getting him to be excited about wearing it, then he didn't want the pull ups and we only used pull ups at night or during naps. It's a struggle, but if they aren't ready to potty train they won't and it's more of a battle so maybe just having the potty out where she can see it, will be more helpful in that aspect until she wants to start using it more. One other thing I have heard from people with more than one child, is make sure you make her potty time time for her and the parent. That way they still feel like they get that diaper changing time the younger sibling is getting and they aren't missing out on time with you!!!
Or just wait until one day she tells you that she does not want to wear a diper anymore. This is what Michelle did and when I asked her - so if you are not wearing a diper where are you gonna pee? She said to the potty and DID it ever since. She was just ready (she never hated the diper though). She was about 2 years and 8 month old at that time. So when they are ready there will be NO struggle! Julia
