Happy 41st Birthday Sesame Street!

Today is Sesame Street's 41st birthday!  I remember watching and loving it as a child and am very happy that Finley also enjoys watching it. It has been the last few weeks that she has taken an interest in the show.  It's one of the few things that Finley will watch + we usually do it first thing in the morning while I am feeding Penelope.  I love how it is always teaching you about something.  It reinforces everything that Greg + I try to teach her.

Here are some photos of our family's favorite characters:

Abby Cadabby is Finley's favorite.  She loves Abby's flying fairy school.  I thinking of recreating Abby for Finley's halloween costume next year.  Might be a bit difficult though.

A close second to Abby would be Elmo.  She mostly loves the theme song to Elmo's world.  She has a cell phone that sings that song so I think that is partly why.  She also likes Elmo's laugh + fish Dorothy.

My all-time favorite is Oscar the Grouch.  I think that goes without saying though.  I had the most wonderful Oscar slippers but they recently had to be thrown out as they were so worn.  Twas a very sad day in my family.  He isn't on very much but I still love him!

This would be my second favorite.  It is also a favorite of Greg's.  He is a great counting tool!  Too bad I couldn't find a talking count to help Finley count!

My Aunty Sandy has the cookie monster game that eats cookies that Greg LOVES.  He played with Madi, Tanner, Easton and now is doing it with Ashton + Finley and soon Peni.  It is funny to watch him imitate the cookie monster.  He is rarely on the show as Cookies are only a sometimes treat.  I think Finley would LOVE old school Cookie Monster.

Grover is on once in awhile and is usually in character as Super Grover.  I still quite enjoy him.

Greg likes Bert + Ernie but me not so much.  Ernie is way too dependant on Bert and it drives me crazy.  Maybe it was because as a kid, Kristy would never let me do anything without her.

Big Bird is a favorite of everyone.  He is a bit too nice for my liking but Finley seems to be smitten by him.

Snuffy as he is now called as I believe Snuffaluffagus Wollymammoth is much too long for any normal child to pronounce.  We just recently found out that he is allergic to dust.  Finley loved him sneezing everywhere!

As you can see Sesame Street is pretty darn awesome.  I love it and have learned so much watching it through Finley's eyes.  She just gets so excited and I love that.  Hopefully she and her children will experience the same.

PS  Penelope has no favorite because she doesn't watch it much  but i am guessing it would be Abby or Elmo as well!
