Yesterday, may baby girl turned 7 months old. It seems hard to believe that it has been 7 months since she was born. May was an exciting month for Finley with so many firsts occuring.
She tried a tonne of new foods this month with the favorite being kiwi. Pureed Kiwi is her new favorite fruit....mango is still a close second! She still hates chicken but will eat if I mix it in carrots or sweet potatoes. Diaper changes are much more interesting with her eating solid foods....nobody really told you that this would happen!
Finley went to her first wedding in Saskatoon on May Long Weekend. Congratulations to Lindsey & Stuart! What a beautiful wedding! She ended up wearing 3 outfits and we didn't even get a picture in the first one because she got it dirty so fast. Finley was very well behaved and had a great time two stepping with Daddy and holding a glass of wine. Her grip was impressively tight on that wine glass - I think this may be a sign of things to come....haha
Finley also learned to semi - sit on her own. If she is propped up by a pillow and has something in front of her to hand on to....ok so it's not really sitting but it's a start! We think her stubby legs and long torso (thanks daddy!) are the reason for her inability to sit on her own.
Finley has learnt to roll from her back to her stomach really well - but unfortunately not from her stomach to her back and this caused ALOT of problems! She can roll from her stomach to her back but it takes alot more work and effort then Finley thinks is worth it but she can do it from time to time. But mostly, she will roll to her stomach, play with some toys and then freak out and I mean freak out. She has even started rolling on to her tummy during her afternoon naps, screams like she is being murdered until I come get her. I think it's a scam but what can you do? So now, nap time occurs during walks in the morning & afternoon so that she can sleep in her stroller. Thank goodness she likes her stroller!
We had to clean out our bonus/tv room on Friday. She is on the go...no she's not crawling or rolling around, she does it by kicking her feet and dragging her body. She can get all around the tv room now. We had to take a bunch of toys into the family room so there is more room for her in the tv room. I am glad we did this as there are now toys for her on the main floor when I am down there making meals and stuff like that. I had tried to keep that floor baby free, but it officially ended yesterday!
She is definitely a tough little girl. She smacks her head, scratches herself constantly while playing on the floor or trying to get around. Yesterday I noticed a cut on her scalp and bump on the back of her head. I asked Greg if that made me a bad parent and he said no, that Finley is just crazy. You really have to watch her play to see what I mean. She is crazy!!!!!
An update on bath time - she still hates it! I got rid of the blue bath tub and the euro style bath tub and just put her in the big tub with just the mesh rack for her to lay on since she can't sit yet and she screamed louder then ever. In fact, all I have to do is undress Finley and lay her on the bath rug on the floor and she starts screaming because she knows what is happening. Yesterday I bought an inflatable bathtub from sears. I will try that and see how that goes. Will keep you posted on that!
Till next time...keep fit & have fun!

My Other Babies...
Here a few pictures of my babies...
This is our chihuahua, Iggy. He is named after Jarome Iginia. He will be 3 in July. He is the sweetest dog in the world - if he likes you. If he doesn't, then look out. He is surprisingly very good with Finley, so far anyways.
This is Luci. She turned 4 in May. We got her to be a playmate with Quincy. Quincy hated me for weeks after we brought her home. Luci is always getting into trouble and loves playing in boxes, bags, cupboards and with all of Finley's toys. She is a cuddly cat, but only on her terms. She is so good with Finley! Luci loves yogurt and will do everything she can to get some!
This is my baby, Quincy. He turned 1o in January. He is the most cuddly, lovable animal in the world. He sleeps with me everynight and gets mad when I go away for the weekend. He is very sociable and all he asks for in return is some loving and of course, some treats! He loves anything seafood and will sit at your feet until you give him some of the fish. He also loves McDonalds french fries & chicken nuggets. I once said that I would pick him over Greg. I wasn't kidding!

Happy Anniversary!
Today is my third wedding anniversary! Sometimes it seems like just yesterday and other times it feels so much longer then that - and I don't mean that in a negative way! And I guess in a way it has been as we have been together for 8 years next month. That's longer then most stay married....hahaha.
I have been incredibly blessed in the last three years - great vacations, a beautiful house, a nice car and of course my beautiful baby girl - but most of all, I have been lucky enough to have such a wonderful husband and father in my life. He has been my best friend and is so understanding of my quircky habits, mood swings, irritibility or my inability to decide what I want to eat. He doesn't get too upset when I don't make supper, when I "forget" to put gas in our car, or when I take the McLeans magazine and hide it so that I get to read it first. He doesn't get too upset when I don't let him take the newspaper to work in the morning, when I get him hooked on shows like American Idol & America's Next Top Model...As you can see he puts up with alot (not that I don't...haha). He takes care of me when I am sick and he took great care of Finley when she was released from the hospital and I had to stay in for another week. We have so much fun doing nothing, or going to the Zoo, hiking in Banff, travelling to Targets throughout Northwest USA, or having long conversations about nothing in particular.
Happy Anniversary Greg! I love you! Thank you for the last 3 (8) years and I look forward to a hundred more years of happiness! Thanks also for the beautiful bracelelt...I love it!
He is not short. I am standing on the top step, him on the bottom...people always think he's short not that I am tall...go figure...haha

Baby Corn
Today I was feeding Finley her lunch & she decided she was going to feed herself. It was quite the situation as you can see from the pictures. It was my fault though- I fed her upstairs instead of in the kitchen because I wanted to watch tv. My bad. The pictures below are from the end to the beginning...
This was at the end, she looked so shocked that I took her "toy" away....

Tattoo Barbie
To celebrate her 50th Birthday, Barbie is getting a tattoo, or several, depending on your preference. Totally Stylin' Tattoos Barbie comes with a tattoo gun, several tattoos (body stickers) of flowers, stars, hearts, butterflies and of course one that says the name of her true love - Ken. I thought they got "divorced" a few years ago - perhaps for her 40th Birthday celebration? Many moms are against the tattoo barbie as are worried about questions that they may get for their little girls. Some even think that Drug Addict Barbie & Alcoholic Barbie is next on the line for Mattel.
Are you kidding me? Are you seriously kidding me? I can't believe some are still so naive as to associate tattoos with drugs & alcohol. I thought that this was 2010 not 1985. Little kids have the fake tattoos now - how is having a Barbie who can do the same any different? Why can't you just honestly answer your children when they ask about the tattoos the same way my mom did: You can do what you want when you turn 18. And I did just that on my 18th birthday and she paid for it. I now have 5 in total and hope to get one more to symbolize my children (when I am done having kids of course!). My mom even has a few tattoos now so I know times are a changing! Finley's little cousins love their fake tattoos and if they do decide to tattoo their body it is not going to be because of drugs, alcohol or even a tattoo barbie!
I can't wait for Tattoo Barbie to come out so I can purchase it for Finley!
Happy Hump Day Wednesday Everybody!

Youtube To the Rescue
A lady went into labor in the UK so her husband called the midwife who said she was tied up and for him to call an ambulance. He soon saw that there was no time to waste as his wife was having contractions every 5 minutes and the baby was coming fast! So what did he do? He searched Youtube for a video that demonstrated how a baby was delivered. Soon after, Baby Gabriel was born happy and healthy!

Happy Mother's Day!
Happy Mother's Day to all the mom's out there - especially those, who like me, are celebrating their first mother's day!
I first want to give a special shout out mother's day greeting to my mom! Having a child myself makes me appreciate all that she did for my sister and I and continues to do for us still. She basically raised us all by herself & did a tremendous job of it. That in itself is amazing since I only have one baby and cannot wait for Greg to get home from work to take Finley so I can have a moment to myself! Mom you are the greatest mom in the world and if I am half as good as you, my children will be blessed!!!
My mother's day was fabulous! I got to sleep in, breakfast in bed, a wonderful photo album full of all things Finley, a homemade card from Finley (with Daddy's help) and a wonderful day in Banff. I have already looked through the album 10x since yesterday. Haha! Tonight we are having a mother's day bbq since I was too sick last night to eat - am definitely looking forward to it! Hope you all were able to have a wonderful day - just like me
Here are some pictures of my wonderful day!

"Trying is lying. There is no such thing as trying. You do it or you don't. You get results in life or you have excuses why you didn't. When people say, 'I'll try,' they usually mean, 'I'm not going to do it now.'"— Dick Sutphen: Psychic researcher and author and speaker on hypnotherapy

Stand By Me
I was listening to Jack FM this morning and they were discussing this YouTube Video. They said it was just a phenomenal video and that everybody should watch it. So I went to YouTube and checked it out. I loved it. It showed that no matter where we are, where we go, who we are that we are all connected with music. One song has touched so many people in so many different places - no matter what the circumstances. We have so much to be grateful for and I think this really shows that.
If you want to take a look & listen of this amazing video, here is the link:

This was also our bridal party song at our wedding. I just love this song and even more so now after seeing this!
You can also check out the Playing for Peace website which is also super cool. Here is their website:

If you are into twittering, you can also follow them on twitter.
Things like this really inspire me and I hope they do the same for you!

First Face Transplant in US
I was just reading CNN.com as I like to do when I have some time mostly because I can find some of the most outrageous stories. Today, the top story was about a lady who was shot in the face by her husband in an attempted murder-suicide. No word if he was killed or not but I think it's safe to say he most likely her ex-husband. Anyways, she basically lost her nose, chin and cheeks and wasn't able to eat solids, couldn't really taste anything and couldn't smell anything. So in December of 2008 she had a face transplant to fix what she had lost in the shooting. She can eat, smell and taste everything she eats now. She said it was like having a second chance at life again and she no longer stood out when she was out and about. It was the greatest gift she could get and someone out there was kind enough to donate everything in hopes of this happening. What a wonderful story and great contribution the modern world of medicine has given us.
It certainly puts into perspective what we all tend to take for granted.
Here is the link to the article if you wish to take a look at it:

The Flu
I don't understand the panic over Swine Flu or H1N1 or whatever you like to call it. The World Health Organization has created this huge panic over this and nobody's flying to Mexico anymore all because of this flu. It hasn't killed a whole lot of people like Sars did a few years back. Some people won't even eat pork because of this strain of flu. My problem with all of this is that more people die from Influenza A or B then of the Swine Flu each year. Why doesn't the media bring that up in the insane coverage that this is getting? WHY? Because then there would be nothing to talk about!! It drives me crazy how the media creates such fear in the people and then people get so unrealistic about it.
Anyways, that is my rant for today! Have a great Tuesday everybody!

Football Anyone?
Today I decided Finley was going to wear her Roughrider T-Shirt when we went shopping for Baby Ashton's present. I didn't think it was that big of a deal, but somebody told me that it was child abuse....I was speechless. Although I understand where he is coming from - I mean I do leave in Stampederville, I really can't believe he said it. I see kids where Stamps crap all of the time and I never say a word and if you ask me that's child abuse. Haha.
I really shouldn't be surprised that this happened considering some 8 year old trash talked me one day not too long ago when I had my garage door open and he saw the Rider flag on the wall. His mom was mortified.
