Finley is 6 Months Old!

Finley's new grobag - she looks so big in it!

Finley in her grobag - it's organic!

Greg let Finley feed herself Cereal tonight for the first time. What A mess!!

Finley & Blueberries. She will like them if I get them to look & taste better
I can't believe it. She is 6 months old TODAY! People always say time flies when they are little but you really don't believe it until it happens to you. It was actually a year ago tomorrow that we went for our first ultrasound. It's amazing to see how much everything has changed in such a short amount of time.
What I find the most astonishing is all of the changes in the last few weeks alone:

We started her on rice cereal, apples and carrots. Daddy even let her feed herself tonight...what a mess! I gave her blueberries this afternoon - I think she would've liked them had I not made them the way I did. I tasted them and they tasted as awful as they looked. But she smiled when she ate them. I ended up throwing them out though - I couldn't make her eat something so awful! Tomorrow we are going to try zucchini!

She rolled from her stomach to her back twice on Saturday - although she had no idea what she did and hasn't done it since. We were in Sherwood Park visiting my family when she did it. At first I didn't believe she did it because I think Greg fibs about her development but my Aunty Debbie said she did and then I saw her do it. Really I think it was because she really doesn't like tummy time anymore and she was tired of her daddy bugging her about it. I hope she does it again soon!

Her vocabulary has expanded and she is so loud & cute. She will lay under her mat and go momomomomombay over and over. She has no idea that I am her mama but one day soon I think she will...haha. She also screeches alot - sometimes it's because she is happy, maybe because she is mad or bored or tired or just wants attention but it is always the same screech. I just love it!!

She loves to sit up and see the world before her. If she can't see what's going on, she gets really angry! When we were at Galaxy land, my sister said she was in complete awe over all of the sounds & lights. Greg & I were busy riding the rides to see this.

She is able to reach for all kinds of toys - I no longer have to continually give them to her when she loses them.

She (finally) outgrew her 0 - 3 month Grobag and is finally in her new one. She looks so massive in it! She moves herself around in her crib so I am always curious to see what I will find next in her crib.

Finally, we have advanced to the toddler seat when using our stroller. She hates the confinement of her bucketseat. She will cry at all times when it unless she is sleeping or we are driving. She likes to move her arms alot. Soon we will be into her toddler carseat because she is just too heavy to carry! Maybe this weekend Greg will install it.

It has been a very exciting month in the Florizone household and there will be many more to come!

Blah, Blah, Blah

This weather is making me feel exactly that. This snow just won't go away and has been driving me crazy!! You think for a moment that you will be able to for a walk and then you open your garage door to get the stroller out and it is snowing again! It doesn't snow for long - just enough to totally ruin your plans and then continues the same pattern throughout the day. I can't believe that only a week ago, we were able to wear capri's and sandals. Now we are back to toques and mittens....when will this be over?

Because of the Blahs caused by this crappy weather I have no motivation to vacuum my stairs, wash my floors, make baby food, finish washing my linens, start to wash my diapers, unpack from Edmonton, or post pictures from my Edmonton trip. I almost didn't have the motivation to go to a play date from my baby & me group - but I am glad that I at least did that.

Hopefully this weather gets nice again so I can be inspired to write something ALOT more interesting....and I can finish everything on my to do list!

Till next time....

Finley's New Bath Tub

This is Finley's new tub. It is the Euro Style Tub recommended to me by fellow baby mama Christine. She said babies liked it, reviews said babies like it, so I thought I will get it. I found one on kijiji so I only had to pay $20 for it. She didn't like it....but not as much as she hated her other one....

T
This is Finley in her bathroom prior to bathtime. As
you can see she looks really happy. But as you will soon see....

This is Finley during bath time. She is not happy, although I will say she cried less and not nearly as loud so maybe we are onto something!

This is Finley after her bath. She looks happy.
She likes the end result, why can't she like what
gets her to this happy place?

I don't understand how Finley can hate bath time.
I love baths and always have. When I went on maternity leave, for 2 straight weeks I bathed 3 times a day....one day soon I hope she will have the same love for bathtime as I do.....

Baby Teeth

Finley has teeth coming through! A tooth is definitely coming through on her bottom gum and one possibly on her top gum. You can't see them yet but when you stick your finger in her mouth you can definitely feel it on the bottom and a bit on the top! I am so excited. I will post a picture as soon as I can see it with my camera!

My Blog

Hey Guys,

Thanks so much for checking out my blog. I created this blog in like January but have never been happy with what I was blogging. I am not even sure if I am happy yet, but how will I really know unless I let someone read it and then get some feedback on said blog. My goal is for my blog to be about random events but mostly I think it will be about Finley - I can't help it! I love blogs - I read them all the time, from blogs of people I know, to those I don't, celebrity blogs, Nascar blogs, hockey blogs - you get the picture. I am not sure what I will do once my mat leave is over - it will be hard to continue my blog obsession when I am supposed to be working....hehe.

Anyways, thanks again for checking out my blog! You can follow my blog which allows you to get updates when I update (I think) or you can make it a favorite and check it out when you have time! Please leave me any feedback - I more then appreciate it!

Finley's First Fruit...

Today I made Finley some Pureed Apples & Pureed Mangos. It was so easy that I really don't understand why people buy stuff already made. It is fresh fruit or veggies, no sugar or preservatives and it takes 20 minutes to prepare.

I had said from the very beginning that I was going to make Finley's baby food, however, I was worried that I would not follow through with it. But now that I know how easy it is, I will, without a doubt, continue to make Finley's food. The best part is, you can make a large batch and freeze it, so that is pretty sweet. Tomorrow I am going to puree some avocado and cauliflower as well. Although, she won't be starting that until next week at the earliest.

I had no intention of starting Finley on fruit until next week but she decided yesterday that she no longer liked the organic brown rice cereal she had been eating since Monday, April 13th. No idea why. Greg thought that maybe she was not ready for solids yet. I didn't think that was the case since she had been eating it regularly all week. So I decided to try her with fruit. I used the can of pears that Easton had bought Finley for Easter since my apples and mangos were not done yet. I tasted it and thought, "well it's not too bad, but it is a bit sweet." I gave her a little spoonful and her face was priceless...I don't think she expected it to taste like it did. It was the cutest little sour face - I was disappointed that I didn't get a picture of it. She continued to eat a few more spoonfuls and then her bottle. I was happy.

So she is ready for solids, at least fruit anyways, but does not seem to like the rice. I think that before we leave for the FLAMES/HAWKS game tonight, I am going to mix her cereal with some apples to see if she will eat it all.

Enjoy the pics of her after she was done with the pears! She is just too cute! I apologize for the quality - there wasn't much light in my kitchen!

PS. Thanks for picking out the yummy pears Easton!!
UPDATE: Finley does not like apples or cereal anymore so we are taking a break from "real" food until we return from Edmonton...

NKOTB!!

When NKOTB announced their reunionion last year on the TODAY show, I was beyond excited...I was deleriously happy! I set the PVR for the Friday before the May Long Weekend as it was their first performance in like 15 years or something like that! Greg thought I was in need of some serious help. In September they announced their Canadian Tour. I was so excited I couldn't wait to see when they would be in Calgary cuz I was so going to this concert. November 19th, 2008. Are you kidding me? Are you seriously kidding me? I was pregnant and my due date was November 9th. Which meant that if I went overdue, the latest I would have my baby would be the 19th. I was devastated that I could not relive my childhood and go see them again. It turned out that Finley was born 2 weeks early but I was in absolutely no shape to go considering all I had been through.

Fast forward to February. Kristy sends me a text saying that NKOTB were coming to Saskatoon on April 11th. Immediately I start making plans to go to this concert. I didn't even hesitate to call Greg and advise him that we had to sell our final home of the season - Flames/Oilers because we had to go back to Saskatoon for Easter and of course - NKOTB.

I then went and joined the C95 VIP Club so that I would get a presale password so that I would not miss out on this opportunity. I got great tickets and so Kristy and I were off to NKOTB just like we did on October 3rd, 1990. This time without our cousin Chris who took us the first time round. We tried to convince him but it was obvious he would be the creepy old man now as opposed to the teenager trying to impress the ladies.

April 11th came and we were so excited it was insane. It was so neat to go onto Facebook and see all my friends' statuses all reflect the concert that night. It was such an amazing night - I can't even begin to explain. It was the longest I had been away from Finley since I was in the ICU and it was so worth it. I had no voice and my ears were still ringing the next morning. I loved every part of the concert - there was nothing I didn't like. Well OK, I will be honest - I wasn't too keen on Donnie's obsession with the Red Sox - I mean, I am a Yankees fan after all, but other then that, it was GREAT!!

It brought back so many memories of myself, Kristy, Lindsay & Leslie when we were so young and were all in love with the guys...Lindsay and I both loved Jordan - not sure how we remained friends...haha. I even remember at Vincent Massey when we had airbands and we did The Right Stuff. I remember my grandpa baby sitting us and Kristy & I memorizing the dances from the videos. I remember being jealous of the little girl who got brought up on stage during the Cover Girl video. It was great to remember all of the great times that NKOTB has had in my life and to think about a time when life was so simple!

Jordan, I will be loving you forever!

Finley and Water

Finley hates the bathtub. HATES IT!! We had one of those traditional blue tubs with the mesh seat but she does not like it. Someone suggested warmer water in it, so we tried that and that did not work! Another person suggested putting more water in it so that it was below her neck so that she stayed warm. This worked once and I was so esctatic! Unfortunately, the key word is once. It has not happened since. Another friend recommended the euro style tub, so I found one on kijiji and picked it up today. I was going to try it today but I figured I would let her rest considering what we had done this afternoon so we will try it tomorrow.

We are going to Edmonton on Thursday night and Greg wants to go to the WEM Waterpark while we are there. I was like are you crazy, she doesn't even like bath water, I doubt very much she'll like a pool. We decided to take Finley to the Canyon Meadows Aquatic & Fitness Center today for some public swimming before we head off to Edmonton. We started in the hot tub and she immediately started crying. We hung out there for a bit and then headed to the pool. She did not like this at all. We were in there for a few minutes before heading back to the hot tub.

We left after a grand total of 27 minutes. I think it took me longer to get Finley & I ready to get in and out of the pool then we spent in it. Needless to say, Finley & I will be skipping the waterpark at WEM....
